EDUCATION AND TRAINING 

This (RQF) qualification is an introductory, knowledge based teaching qualification which can be undertaken by individuals who are not yet in a teaching role (pre-service), or are currently teaching (in-service). However, there is a minimum requirement to take part in microteaching. Microteaching is an activity where trainee teachers prepare and deliver a short teaching and learning session to their peers and then evaluate their practice.

This qualification is suitable for individuals who:

  • Are not yet in a teaching role (pre-service)

  • Are in a teaching role, or who have just started a teaching role (in-service)

  • Want a short qualification

  • Have the potential to study at this level, which has the same level of demand as that of study for A-levels

  • Want a qualification without a minimum teaching practice requirement

  • May have already achieved some Learning and Development units that can be brought forward into this teaching qualification (known as QCF equivalents)

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is regulated by Ofqual. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is a new qualification which replaces the Level 3 and 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS). It is an introductory teaching qualification, which prepares learners for teaching or training in a wide range of contexts.

There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of Level two in literacy and numeracy or equivalent. This qualification is suitable for learners of 16+.

AWARD IN UNDERSTANDING THE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF ASSESSMENT (RQF)

This qualification develops knowledge of the principles and practices of assessment without any requirement to practice as an assessor. There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level two in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. The qualifications are suitable for learners of 18 years of age and above.

  • How to Involve Learners and Others in Assessment

  • How to Make Assessment Decisions

  • Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process

Only one unit within this qualification is internally assessed. The qualification is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes. To achieve a ‘pass’ a candidate must have successfully passed allthe assessment criteria. There is no requirement for learners to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and personal skills in literacy, language, numeracy and information communication technology (ICT), known as the Minimum Core as part of the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF).

AWARD IN CUSTOMER SERVICE

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to build on their knowledge and skills in the customer service sector. It is designed for learners who deal with customers on a daily basis as part of their job role in a senior position, and is applicable to a variety of work environments. It forms both the knowledge and competency requirements of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Customer Service and can also be taken on a standalone basis.

AWARD IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

This qualification is aimed at learners working in a senior business administration role. It aims to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding across a range of administrative practices and tasks, e.g. managing information. It forms the knowledge and competency requirements of the Advanced Apprenticeship Framework in Business Administration. It can also be used on a stand-alone basis.

AWARD IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT

The qualification is made up of four units. All units are mandatory and required by learners for the Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
